All grades are encouraged to read as much as possible for recreational purposes over their summer vacations.


ENTERING 1ST GRADE

Please choose books from the list below based on your sons reading level. He can read as many as he likes:
  • National Geographic Readers
  • Fly Guy (series) by Tedd Arnold
  • Gossie and Gertie (series) by Olivier Dunrea
  • Houndsley and Catina (series) or Pinky and Rex(series), both by James Howe
  • Amanda Pig (series) by Jean Van Leeuwen
  • Puppy Mudge Has a Snack by, Cynthia Rylant (series)
  • Fix This Mess by Tedd Arnold (I like to Read series)
  • Any titles by Mo Willems
  • Any titles by Laura Numeroff (especially the If You Give…. series)
  • Any titles by David Shannon
  • Pete the Cat (series) by James Dean
  • Any titles by Kevin Henkes
  • Any titles by James Marshall
  • Any titles from Green Light Readers Levels 1 & 2

ENTERING 2ND GRADE

Please read 3 books from any of the following series:
  • Frog & Toad
  • Henry & Mudge
  • Young Cam Jansen
  • Magic Tree House
  • Flat Stanley

ENTERING 3RD GRADE

Minimum of three books from the "Horrible Harry" series by Suzy Kline.


ENTERING 4TH GRADE

Students MUST pick two to read:
