“Battle for the Bridge” Pits New York vs. New Jersey Teams in a Showcase of Catholic High School Football Six rival Catholic high school football teams will put it all on the line at the inaugural “Battle for the Bridge,” which pits New York verses New Jersey teams in a showcase on Saturday, Sept. 14, at MetLife Stadium in East Rutherford, N.J., home of the New York Giants. Attendees are reminded that a NO ALCOHOL policy will be in effect for all three games and includes both the stadium and the adjacent parking lots.

This is a secure registration platform that provides an easy, user-friendly way to register scholar-athletes for athletic teams, while allowing the school to be more administratively efficient and environmentally responsible. FamilyID keeps track of all registration information within user profiles so that details for each family member only need to be entered once, regardless of the number of teams on which they participate.

New 'Substantial Equivalency' Rules Threaten Private School Autonomy The New York State Education Department (NYSED) has proposed updated legislation which would transfer oversight of nonpublic schools to public districts and school boards. In response, Iona Prep is asking its more than 20,000 alumni, current parents and friends to write to the NYSED and voting state regents, letting them know why oversight of religious and private schools should remain the purview of their respective boards.

Ty Jerome '16 Makes Short List of Iona Prep Players Drafted Into NBA The Class of 2016's Ty Jerome has broken a lot of records. As a junior, he helped bring Iona Preparatory basketball its first Class AA Archdiocesan title. This past April, as a junior at the University of Virginia, he became the first Gael to win a collegiate national title. And on June 20, he became one of the few alumni selected in the NBA Draft, going in the first round, no less.

The Best Offense is a Good Defense as Coaches Quirolo, Petrillo Reunite If the old adage that "the best offense is a good defense" holds any water, then the varsity football offense just got a whole lot more prolific as former longtime coaches Victor Quirolo and Felix Petrillo LS'85, US'89 are returning to the Gridiron Gaels sideline as defensive coordinator and defensive tackles coach, respectively. The move gives Iona Preparatory one of the most experienced and decorated coaching staffs in the Catholic High School Football League (CHSFL) and greater metropolitan area.
