Jazz & Rock Ensembles, Forensics & Prep Players to Highlight Dec. 19 Winter Arts Night; Plus, Lower School Christmas Pageant Iona Preparatory Upper School's Fine Arts program is putting the "rock" in "Rockin' Around the Christmas Tree" when it hosts its annual Winter Arts Night in the Tully Gymnasium and Cafeteria on Thursday, Dec. 19, beginning at 6:30 p.m. Tickets are $5 at the door and refreshments will be served during this evening of art, drama and music. Half an hour later, the doors open to the Lower School's annual Christmas Pageant in the gymnasium, where the bell and vocal choirs will be accompanied by a dramatic performance of the events surrounding Jesus' birth.
3 Alumni Rowing for the U.S. National Team this Summer

Paul Verni '13 makes his second National Team appearance with the 2019 Pan Am Games. Three young alumni have been named to the USRowing national team at the Pan Am Games, currently underway, as well as the World Championships later this month in Austria. Paul Verni '13 and Danny Madden '14 will be representing the United States for a second and third time, respectively, while Jonathan Zagroba '11 is making his National Team debut.

Confronting the challenge head-on, rising seniors at Iona Preparatory School have shipped off to “Essay Boot Camp” to complete the college essay before the school year even begins.

New 'Substantial Equivalency' Rules Threaten Private School Autonomy The New York State Education Department (NYSED) has proposed updated legislation which would transfer oversight of nonpublic schools to public districts and school boards. In response, Iona Prep is asking its more than 20,000 alumni, current parents and friends to write to the NYSED and voting state regents, letting them know why oversight of religious and private schools should remain the purview of their respective boards.

Ty Jerome '16 Makes Short List of Iona Prep Players Drafted Into NBA The Class of 2016's Ty Jerome has broken a lot of records. As a junior, he helped bring Iona Preparatory basketball its first Class AA Archdiocesan title. This past April, as a junior at the University of Virginia, he became the first Gael to win a collegiate national title. And on June 20, he became one of the few alumni selected in the NBA Draft, going in the first round, no less.
Upper School Celebrates Major Milestone With 100th Commencement Exercises

Valedictorian Matthew Hono, 18, of White Plains, and Brother Thomas R. Leto, President. Iona Preparatory Upper School celebrated its 100th Commencement Exercises on May 23 at Iona College, marking a major milestone in the history of the all-boys Pre-K-12 Catholic school located in New Rochelle. Raymond Bartoszek, a graduate of both Iona Preparatory Lower and Upper Schools, and who became the youngest limited partner of the New York Yankees in 2011, was the keynote speaker and winner of the Alumni Award.
