3 Alumni Rowing for the U.S. National Team this Summer

Three young alumni have been named to the USRowing national team at the Pan Am Games, currently underway, as well as the World Championships later this month in Austria. Paul Verni '13 and Danny Madden '14 will be representing the United States for a second and third time, respectively, while Jonathan Zagroba '11 is making his National Team debut.

Verni and Zagroba are competing in both the Men's Coxless Four and Men's Eight at the Pan Am Games in Lima, Peru. Verni is representing the U.S. for a second time, having competed in 2012, while an Iona Prep student, at the CanAmMex Regatta. They represent two of only 21 total athletes on the roster.

As of this posting, the pair have qualified for the gold medal final in both events. To see how their boats finish, you can follow the Pan Am Games live online.

After rowing for the Under 23 National Team in 2017 and 2018, Madden will be competing for the third consecutive year, this time with the Senior National Team in the World Championships Aug. 25 - Sept. 1. He will compete in the Men's Lightweight Quad.
