12 More Iona Preparatory Scholar-Athletes Commit to Play Collegiate Sports

Twelve more Iona Preparatory School scholar-athletes committed to play collegiate sports today as part of the latest National Signing Day. In a proud, ESPN-style event that was broadcast on LocalLive from Iona Preparatory School’s Tully Gymnasium and covered by local media, these Gaels joined 12 other Iona Prep scholar-athletes who had previously signed, bringing Iona Prep’s total to 24 so far this school year. Family, friends, classmates and coaches cheered on in celebration.


NATIONAL SIGNING DAY EVENT BRINGS IONA PREP'S TOTAL TO 24


“These young men are taking their God-given gifts and talents to the next level,” said Thomas R. Leto, Ed.D., President of Iona Preparatory School. “These are tremendous scholar-athletes, and they are building on the Iona Prep tradition of excellence that has been established over the past 101 years.”

In the past five years, nearly 200 Iona Prep scholar-athletes have gone on to play at the college level. Last year, the Gaels had a total of 31 scholar-athletes commit to play college sports, including 17 Division I signing to schools such as Brown, MIT and Stanford. In all, 550 scholar-athletes participated in at least one sport, with a remarkable 90.25 overall GPA.

The following Gaels committed to play as part of the Feb. 6 National Signing Day:
  • Anthony Bonavita, IV (17, Irvington) – Merrimack College (Division I), Football
    • Two year varsity starter on the offensive line
    • 2018 CHSFL Lineman of the year
    • CHSFL ALL-League First Team
    • LoHud All-County First Team
    • New York Sports Writers All-State First Team
    • USA Today All State – 2nd Team
  • Joseph DiDonato (18, West Harrison) – LeMoyne (Division II), Baseball
    • 4 year member of the baseball program. Two year varsity contributor
    • Member of the Westchester baseball academy summer program.
    • Italian Club, Math Team, Leadership Class, Kairos Retreat and a member of the National Honor Society
    • 93.01 overall GPA
  • Michael DiDonato (18, West Harrison) – LeMoyne (Division II), Baseball
    • 4 year member of the baseball program. Two year varsity contributor
    • Member of the Westchester baseball academy summer program.
    • Math Team and Member of the Kairos Retreat
    • 88.10 overall GPA
  • Jimaar Edwards (17, White Plains) – Union College (Division III), Football
    • Two year varsity starter on the defensive line.
    • CHSFL Player of the week
    • Senior year stats: 42 total tackles, 3 sacks and 1 interception
    • Two year peer minister
    • Overall 90.70 GPA
  • Kieran Foster (17, White Plains) – Georgetown University (Division I), Tennis
    • Four year member of the tennis program
    • Kieran has been the # 1 spot his entire career at the prep.
    • Ranked #22 by the USTA & 5 star recruit
    • Kieran’s current record is 28-2
    • Member of the National Honor Society and a member of Peer Ministry
    • 95.47 Overall GPA
  • Camari Glasgow (17, Bronx) - Merrimack College (Division I), Football
    • Two year varsity starter
    • Senior year Statistics: 354 rushing yards, 618 receiving yards & 11 touchdowns
    • CHSFL ALL-League 1st Team
    • LoHud All-Stars 2nd Team
    • New York State Sports Writers All-State 6th Team
  • Alexander Guglielmo (17, New Rochelle) – Trinity (Division III), Soccer
    • 4 year member of the soccer program. Three year varsity starter – Center/Midfielder
    • Member of the NY Soccer Club
    • Member of our National Honor Society,
    • Foreign Language Society and peer ministry
    • 96 overall GPA
  • Stephen Judge (17, Scarsdale) – Fordham University (Division I), Water Polo
    • 4 year member of our swimming & diving team
    • Vice President of the Student Government
    • Started playing water polo at age 8 and currently plays for Greenwich Aquatics
    • 86.11 overall GPA
  • Jayden Lambert (17, Mount Vernon) – The College at Brockport (SUNY, Division III), Football
    • Two year varsity starter
    • LoHud 2nd Team All-Star 2018
    • Two time CHSFL Player of the Week
    • Senior Year: 183 receiving yards, 175 rushing yards, 42 tackles and 2 interceptions
  • Charles Ryan (18, New Rochelle) - Union College (Division III), Football
    • Four year member of the football program.
    • Two year varsity starter.
    • 1 year basketball and 1 year track & field
    • Member of the National Honor Society & Business Leaders Club
    • 94.81 overall GPA
  • Ryan Soules (17, Mount Vernon) – Southern Connecticut State University (Division II), Football
    • Three year member of the football program. Two year varsity starter.
    • Three year member of the hockey program
    • 81.27 overall GPA
  • Steven Wieder (17, Bronxville) – Belmont Abbey (Division II), Golf
    • Four year member of the golf team
    • Steven’s 3 year record is 27-2
    • His scoring average over 3 years is 39.0
    • Qualified for the NYSCHSAA Golf Tournament in his Sophomore and Junior year
