DeStasio '20 wins 11th-Grade Race at Regis Invy; Sets Personal Best
Junior Michael DeStasio set a personal best of 13:52 in winning the 11th-grade race at the 41st Annual Regis Invitational on Sept. 15 at Van Cortlandt Park with the 20th fastest time by a junior in school history.
For DeStasio, it was his first cross-country race since sustaining a serious injury in 2017.
"Awesome performance," said coach Jan Mitchell. "So proud of this young man!"
Junior Pedro Bravo took second in the varsity race with a time of 13:01, the fourth fastest in Gael harrier history and breaking the junior class record set in 1977 by the legendary Vince Draddy '79.
Up next for the running Gaels is the Bowdoin Classic
. The varsity gets things started at 11:30 a.m., followed by the JV and freshmen at 1:30 and 2:30 p.m, respectively.
