REAL REALBUTO: Brown-Bound Senior Wins Shoreline Wrestling Title, Records 100th Victory

Hailing from a legacy of great local wrestlers, senior Colin Realbuto rewrote his own chapter of the family annals on Jan. 6 at the 54th annual Murphy-Guccione Shoreline Classic at New Rochelle High School, taking home top honors in the 138-pound weight class with an 11-0 major decision in the final and recording his 100th career victory.

Currently undefeated at 22-0 and the top-ranked wrestler in the CHSAA at his weight, Realbuto sits at 105 wins, just one shy of the school record held by Connor Mullins '12. Realbuto also won the 138-pound title at Danbury High School's Ryan Sabbagh Holiday Wrestling Tournament on Dec. 30, being named Most Outstanding Wrestler in the process. He owned a career record of 81-36, with 36 pins, heading into this season.

Realbuto also had a tremendous 2016-2017 season, winning the Hendrick Hudson and Somers tournaments in the 138-pound division. He came in second place at Catholic States last year.

A Scout since the 5th grade, he is currently a Life Scout working toward becoming an Eagle—a rank only 6 percent of all Scouts ever attain. He was awarded the History medal after his sophomore year and is presently taking two Advanced Placement courses in Government & Physics, while maintaining an overall GPA of 92.13.

On Nov. 8, Realbuto inked his National Letter of Intent to wrestle at Brown University in the fall. Later that month, he was named a Journal News' Mean 15 contender as a wrestler to watch this season. Following the team's 42-38 win over Fordham Prep on Jan. 10, during which Realbuto recorded his 100th career victory, be sure to watch him Jan. 12-13 at the Eastern States Classic at Sullivan Community College.
