Iona Prep Junior Organizing Weeklong Hurricane Relief Collection, Direct Delivery of Donations

Iona Preparatory Upper School junior Conor Lane, of Bedford, N.Y., is coordinating relief efforts with the school’s Leadership Program to provide basic necessities to the residents of Texas and Florida following the hurricanes of the past few weeks. Students will be collecting items such as diapers, soap, toothbrushes and deodorant through Saturday, Sept. 16. That afternoon, students will package and load all of the collected items onto a truck procured by Conor, which will then be driven directly to Texas and Florida for distribution.

“At Iona Prep, we are taught the foundation of our Christian values and at the heart of those values is social responsibility. It’s important that we live as we are taught,” Conor wrote in a letter to the entire PK4-12 school community. “It is our responsibility as men to put into action what we are taught and what we live every day by helping people in these tragically affected communities.”

"With your help, some legwork and campaigning about this effort, we can make an impact in the lives of some people devastated by these storms," Conor continued.
