Former JP Morgan General Counsel to Address Business Leaders Club April 6
Iona Preparatory Upper School's Business Leaders Club will host former JP Morgan Chase general counsel Travis Epes P'12 on Thursday, April 6, in Room 401 of the D'Urso Conference Center for a discussion on the financial business world. Mr. Epes has been a senior financial literacy teacher at Iona Preparatory for the past three years.
Thursday's discussion will include topics such as:
- What does an investment bank do?
- How does it make money?
- What is wealth management?
- How do businesses make money?
Before retiring from J.P. Morgan Chase & Co. in 2010, Mr. Epes served in a number of roles there, including Co-General Counsel of the JP Morgan Investment Bank. Over a twenty-year career at JP Morgan, Mr. Epes advised the capital markets, equity derivatives, merger advisory and private equity groups, among others, and served on the Risk and Reputation Risk Committees, and the IPO Committee of the firm. Prior to joining JP Morgan, Mr. Epes was an associate attorney practicing corporate law at Rogers & Wells (now part of Clifford Chance) and Fried Frank Harris Shriver & Jacobson in New York City.
He is a graduate of Harvard College and New York University School of Law. Both his father, Travis US'53, and his son, Robert US'12, are graduates of Iona Preparatory. Mr. Epes lives in Bronxville with his wife, Laurie Cohen, a partner at Evercore Partners.
